Thankful

I am so thankful for our health today! Kyle and I each had to battle a very nasty viral infection this weekend, I'll spare you the details!

It has me thinking about what we have. We had to miss 3 Christmas parties this weekend to fully recover, initially, I was pretty upset about that. When I think about what we gained this weekend, I am glad we had to miss those parties.

We stayed at home bundled up on the couch as a family and nursed each other back to health. I'm so glad we have each other! It would've been a very tough weekend, had I had to do it alone.

Remember that this season is a time to celebrate life and not measure our life by what we have!

Merry Christmas & God bless!

Welcome to Military Life!

Happy Veteran's Day!

I've been a military wife (Coastie wife) for a little over a year, and on this very Veteran's Day, I learned a little something about what it means to be a military wife. I felt the deep and desperate punch in the stomach I suppose every spouse feels, when the words leave their loved ones mouth - "I am going" (out to sea, to the Middle East, etc...) Why does HE have to go, why MY husband, this is just not the right time.

I knew the day would come. I just ignored the approach of that day and prayed it would be when I felt secure in our situation (we just moved to the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State in July - my first military move). I guess this year will be full of firsts for all of us.

This Christmas, our daughter's first Christmas, we may spend apart. Word came in today that my husband may be heading out to sea by the end of this month ( in just 2 1/2 weeks ) and he'll be gone until March.

I am sure that there are many many military wives that would cherish a 4 month deployment, and I am not downplaying the length of time they have to give up. I am simply writing about the emotions and thoughts I am feeling.

I hate the fact that our life, as chaotic and unorganized as it is, may be completely changed. I am so saddened to think that Kyle won't experience Stella's first Christmas, or so many of those other firsts she's about to experience.

I wonder how, I will function and what this will mean for our relationship and what life will be like when he comes home.

Pray that we have the strength to deal with whatever happens and that we will cherish our time together, either way. We should know if he will be going by next week sometime! Much love!

da da da da where everybody knows your name....

Small town USA! We had a garage sale today, only made about $150 dollars, but met all our neighbors.

This was quite a different experience from our LA garage sale where we made $800, and met no one.

Today people were almost as curious about us as our junk, what do we do, what brought us here, yada yada yada! I don't believe we made any new "besties," but everyone was very nice.

To celebrate the success of our garage sale and get out of the house, I decided to get a mani/pedi tonight!! First of all, my nails turned out great, (no they didn't have hot stones for the pedi - nothing will compare to Angel Nails in Santa Ana!) Here's the weird part, she didn't take my Visa card! What? No, it wasn't declined - she simply said cash or check! WHAT? People still take checks!? I was amazed - I even told her so, she said, "it's a small town, I maybe get 1 0r 2 bad checks a year."

My neighbors say that a lot of people don't lock their doors around here...people trust people here! I don't know that I'll ever get used to that, but it is a nice thought! Off to bed, doors locked!

Angeles to Angeles

This summer meant a big change for and my new little family! We moved from Los Angeles (Orange, Orange County really) to Port Angeles, Washington. We made this move with our precious new baby girl who was only 6 weeks old at the time. We have moved from the land of all things glamourous and fabulous to the land of glittery vampires! (Twilight is based here)

It has been quite the adjustment, but also a nice change! I went from working 60+ hours a week as a Sales Manager to a Stay at home Mommy! I am about to start a new adventure as a Stylist with a fabulous jewelry company called Stella & Dot! That is my way of bringing a little Angeles to Angeles!

Come back to my blog for the latest in our adventures here in the Pacific Northwest, my fitness finds, and Stella & Dot information!
